PRE-WORLD AIDS DAY FOOTBALL MATCH HELD AT MSAMBWENI SUB COUNTY SHOWGROUNDS Theme: "Race Against Time: End AIDS by 2030, End Triple Threats, Promote the Health of Boys and Men"On 29th November 2024, Teens Watch Centre (TWC) hosted an inspiring pre-World AIDS Day football match at the Show Ground in Msambweni Sub-County. This event brought together Health care Workers and People Who Use Drugs (PWUDs), focusing on fostering unity, breaking stigma, and promoting HIV prevention and mental health awareness.The spirited match captivated the audience, showcasing teamwork and resilience. Both teams demonstrated mutual respect and comradeship, reinforcing the message that health is a shared responsibility.On-site mental health counseling was available, offering support to participants and attendees. Awareness sessions emphasized coping strategies and mental wellness, especially for individuals facing stigma and marginalization.Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) awareness campaign was conducted, targeting key populations. Prep champions ensured egible clients were referred reinforcing HIV prevention efforts.The event drew a diverse audience, including local leaders, community members, and peer educators.Educational booths provided information on HIV prevention, harm reduction, and mental health resources.This dynamic event promoted HIV awareness, mental health, and PrEP uptake, aligning with the global mission to End AIDS by 2030. It fostered stronger community ties and underscored the critical role of collaboration in addressing the triple threats of HIV, mental health challenges, and substance use.Teens Watch Centre remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and advancing health equity through innovative, inclusive initiatives.100 drug users were reached, 37 tested for HIV. Non of them turned HIV positive. 7 PWIDs were initiated to PREP.
